Music and Emotions

It may be a little taboo to talk about sex on a blog, but duty calls.  A recent study said that forty percent of the people involved were “more turned on by music than the touch of their partner.”

The study was conducted by Dr. Daniel Mullensiefen, a music psychologist at Goldsmiths, University of London.  2,000 people were surveyed between the ages of eighteen and ninety-one with a ‘roughly equal gender split.’  There must be something to this ‘music during sexual interaction’ if ninety-one year olds are still engaged in any kind of physical activity.

So as I read about this study, I had to know which songs people felt were more arousing than the touch of their partner.  Marvin Gaye’s “Sexual Healing and “Let’s Get It On” topped the charts.

But Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture? The Star Wars Soundtrack? Maybe the study was conducted at Comic Con…

After reading the full list of songs, I felt like I needed another expert’s opinion on the matter.  Fortunately, I was able to do a brief skype interview with Gabrielle Davina, the writer for the Pace Chronicle’s G-Spot ColumnDavina also hosts a blog about sex.

What are your thoughts on the matter? Post your comments below!
