Let’s Talk Music: Freddie Mercury

@Q1043 made a post earlier that really caught my eye – today makes 21 years since we lost Freddie Mercury, arguably the best vocalist, performer and songwriter of all time.

Not a believer? Check this out.

His contribution to music was unreal. The rock genre would be in a far different place right now without Mercury, and Queen.

In celebrating his life, you can learn ten quirky things about him, thanks to ClashMusic.com, including the fact that his passport actually reads Freddie Mercury, or the fact that he didn’t consider himself a good pianist.

And if that’s not enough Freddie for you, there is a limited edition Lego Minifigure modeled after him. The best part is, all money raised from the sales of these collectables go towards HIV research.

There will never be any else quite like Freddie Mercury, however I can rest easy knowing bands like Foxy Shazam draw influence from the greats. Now I’m not saying Eric Nally of Foxy Shazam is Freddie Mercury reincarnated…but I’m not saying he isn’t either. 😉
